ANOTHER WEEK OF EPIC WINS for Colorado Buffs & Broncos on the road this week! The teams both dominated in many aspects; for the buffs, the defense, the offense, and special teams looked incredible, and the Broncos are walking away with two dubs on the road!

Unfortunately, I do not travel with the teams & and both of them were out of town this week! So, we had to be creative with this week's blog post! While the teams were out of town, I wanted to take the opportunity to talk about a topic that is close to my heart: the experiences and perspectives of women in sports & just their overall take on it. I reached out to some of my favorite girls who work in various roles within the sports industry. I am excited to be an outlet for them to share their thoughts on what it means to be a woman in this dynamic field.

Alexah Jade Montanes- Texas Christian University

First, I spoke with the lovely Alexah Jade Montanes, Texas Christian University (TCU)  student who aspires to work in sports commentary. My first question was, "What drew you wanting to work in sports, and what drives your motivation to do this?". She had a lot of thoughts on this question. She shared with me that "as a previous athlete, sports hold an extraordinary spot in her heart, and she wants to keep that aspect and passion in her life; working in sports has boasted that love I have for sports." Alexah also highlighted how working in sports reminds her "of her love for sports and how it's almost an escape from the crazy world outside of this field." Lastly, I asked, "Is it hard to get experience, or is there anything challenging for her while working in sports? Alexah's response was, "There are always ups and downs; at my school and with my major, it's easy for me to get real-world experience such as going to interview players and so overall it has been an uphill road as of right now." She also mentioned how supportive networks among women have been crucial for her growth, allowing her to navigate challenges and celebrate successes together!

NEXT-

Chloe Smith - University of Colorado Boulder

Then, I decided to interview MY GIRL, Chloe Smith. She attends the University of Colorado Boulder and is currently killing it in the sports world. She currently works for the Broncos' promotions team and Buffalo Sports Properties, which does corporate partnerships for CU athletics. The first question I asked was, "What do these jobs entail, and she gave me great insight into what she does. Chloe said, "For both jobs, a main task is to set up the tailgate areas (mane street and fan fest) as well as help execute in-game activations (salute to service for Broncos, all of them for CU)." I am familiar with the Broncos job because I have the amazing privilege of working with her. Then I asked what she liked about working both jobs. Chloe responded, "I love both jobs because while the general tasks are the same, every week is different, and I get to do many different things throughout each game day." She also mentioned, "I get bored easily, so working in an environment where everything moves quickly and changes often is fun: I also meet many people, whether fans, current or former players, or partners." Lastly, I asked if she overall thinks that she's making a significant contribution to these jobs, and Chloe responded, "A big thing that I think I contribute, in both jobs, is the opportunity to problem solve and create solutions when things inevitably go wrong or change throughout the game."

FRIENDS OFF THE FIELD

GOOFS! ( Both photos by Grace McKee

In the end, for this week's blog post, while the Colorado Buffs and Broncos celebrated their victories on the road, I had the privilege of shining a light on two inspiring women in the sports industry! Alexah Jade Montanes gave her insight and showed us her take on her sports journey, giving us a different perspective because she attends a different school. Chloe showed us how she does everything and talked about her love for TWO unique jobs. Overall, these experiences remind us that there is a growing community of support and empowerment for women in sports. As we continue to cheer for our teams, let's champion the incredible women who contribute meaningfully to the sports world. Here's to many more epic wins—on the field and off!

Thank you for tuning into the weeks blog post!

Come back next week for the Broncos vs Raiders game!
