This weekend in Colorado was a sports fan's dream, with the Buffs and Broncos securing dominant victories. On Saturday, the University of Colorado Buffs crushed the Utah Utes, with standout performances from Travis Hunter, Will Shephard, and Charlie Offerdahl & Shedeur Sanders, all contributing to a game that had Folsom Field buzzing with excitement. In addition to this excitement, meanwhile, down at Empower Field on Sunday, the Denver Broncos followed suit, blowing out the Atlanta Falcons 38-6. Both games were dedicated to honoring the military, with unique activations and ceremonies paying tribute to service members, adding an extra layer of pride and emotion to an already exciting weekend. It was a weekend full of dubs, energy, and community pride that fans won’t soon forget! In this blog post, I will dive deeper into what these “ Days in the Lifes” look like when working both games!

CU game: Buffs dominate the Utes

This game for me started around 5 am. I woke up, showered, and got ready for the game. I wasn't that tired and more thrilled for the game because it was one of the last home games I worked for the season. This is also a big game for my family, so they all traveled from their homeland of Utah to watch this game. Once I was ready, I headed down to the facility and got there around 6 am. We set up the area for the recruits and then went to our team meeting and got our assignments. In this game, many recruits from IMG Academy in Florida came, so it was super cool to talk to them. Once we ate breakfast, it was time to watch warm-ups. I love watching warm-ups, which is one of my favorite parts of the game. Then we walked them down to the "Colorado" to watch Ralphie run- she ran faster this time, which was hype! Then the game started. At first, it was a rough start, with Shedeur throwing an interception in the first half, but it's okay. We had to give them some free points because then we dominated.  When halftime rolled around, we brought some of the recruits up to eat lunch, relax, and sit, but they all wanted to go back down to the stands because the game was so exciting. Incredible and exciting plays and some real stand-out moments were made during the second and third halfs. There was a little locker room celebration when the game concluded, and we tore down all the setup. Ultimately, everyone gathered in the indoor practice facility to celebrate the win. Overall, it was a great, exciting game and went super smoothly. I am thankful for what I get to do and hope I contribute to the best of my ability.

Sunday: Broncos Take Care of Business Against Falcons

After a nice four-hour nap, it was time to wake up and prepare for the next game. I woke up around 4am because the carpool picked me up around 5am. We got ready again and were on our way to the Empower field. It was still pitch dark when we arrived, and we headed right into our team meeting. There was a lot to go over this game because we were doing tons of marketing activations and extra things because this was our “salute to service game.” After we got our assignments, mine was "kick-off kid". We booked it to “Main Street” to start setting up the tailgate area and all our other game day activities. Then, around 9:30 am, we were all ready to go. We had rehearsals for some of our in-game activations, but we were prepared to go overall. Also, I got to ride in the blue “hat car” today, which is super old and hard to drive, but it was super fun. Then 12:30 rolled around quickly, fans started to pack the stadium, and we were getting ready for our game! I met the cutest kid and he was our kick-off kid from the Children’s Hospital. I took him and his dad on the field to watch our pre-game and see if the Broncos would kick off first.Unfortunately, we did not. I took them back to their seats and grabbed them at half. I went back down to watch the first and a bit of the second quarter and helped the homies with their activations. When half time rolled around, there was a fantastic relay race with all branches of the military services, and it was super impressive to watch; the Air Force won. Some super cute K9s were also on the field, so we hung out with them for a while. Then it was time for the kick-off ; he got to meet some players and run to the center of the field to grab the T. This is one of the most fulfilling parts of my job because of how excited the kids get! Then, I took them back to their seats and watched the 3rd and fourth quarters. Overall, it was a super fun day with many laughs from my co-workers and excitement for the season’s last 3 or MORE games.
