Hello, hello, blog! This week has been quiet because both teams were away. The Cu buffs traveled to Lubbock, Texas, to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders! It is a super exciting game with many thrilling moments. The tortillas were flying, but that did not stop us from taking the dub. On the other hand, the Denver Broncos took on the Kansas City Chiefs, which was going well until the tragic ending that I don't think anyone wants to discuss! Overall tone of ups for the buffs and some things that need to be improved for the Broncos, but both teams will be back in the home states of Colorado next week! That being said, I don't have any “days in life” to talk about, so this week, we will talk about how I got into working in sports and show photos from the early days!
All right, so let's unpack this: the first year was crazy. I recall going to the football games, and they were nothing like what they are now. I didn't join a sorority because that's not who I am, and I was trying to figure out something I wanted to be a part of. In high school, my passion was always to be part of sporting events; I attended all of them even though Boulder High was never the best at football. I loved going to the soccer and hockey games, whether to watch or for the yearbook or media - something about it was fascinating. So I kept thinking about how to join athletic programs- I didn't care what I did; I just wanted to be a part of something.

Then Cu football went south… the 2-11 season wasn't going to cut it for our program, and changes needed to be made- so that's when new people started joining the program, and prime was "coming." If I am being completely honest, I had no idea what this meant or who any of these people were, just like all the students. Change was happening, and it was happening quickly, and there was a lot of media attention around our school. I still wasn't sure how I was going to get into the field of working in sports and honestly was a bit doubtful because of all the new staff.
That was not the case at all. Then, a few staff members of the recruiting department posted on social media that they were looking for student interns to help out. I jumped at the opportunity and instantly sent in my resume and email stating how badly I wanted to be a part of this and & how hard I would work. I wanted to hear back because this was a popular position. But after a few days, I heard back and was asked to do an interview. I was FREAKING out, and I called my dad about 80 times asking for interview advice, and he told me just to be myself, and it would be fine.

Then, the interview came around, and I got the job! I was excited to join the cu buff football recruiting team and was ready to work hard. That following week, we had a group meeting where we met everyone else who joined the teams, took a tour of the facility, and learned more about what we would be doing- I was STOKED! We also got our polos, which the girls complained about, so we only had to wear them for one spring game because we did not love them. But yes, that is my journey to join the cu Buffs recruiting team. I am unbelievably grateful to have done this for around two years - and I can't wait to continue working for the team. I would love to share many memorable experiences from the past - but for an upcoming blog, I will dive deeper into how I started working for the Broncos!
Thanks for tuning into this week's blog! Next week, the Buffs take on the Utes at home, and I will be vlogging that. We also have the Broncos vs. Falcons on Sunday! Come back next week for updates on those. Also check out the socials for more content!
