AN EPIC WIN!

This week was beyond exciting for the Colorado buffaloes!! An unimaginable win became our reality when the Buffs beat Baylor in overtime 31-38. The countless numbers of texts and calls I was receiving from family and friends while this was all taking place was crazy. Everything about the game was full of thrills, and the fans brought their energy! Many moments had fans on the edges of their seats. They carried that energy till the end of the game, so much so that before the game was over, they decided to rush the field before the game was over. But overall, being a BUFF was great this Saturday night, and I would never want to BU!

While all this excitement was playing out, you best believe I wasn't in the stands. I have the fantastic opportunity to work for the team! I am an intern for the CUs recruiting department! I wouldn't have a game day any other way. When I go to work, it doesn't feel like work. In this blog, I will cover a day in a woman's life working a game day for the Buffs vs. Baylor!

COUNTDOWN IS ON!

Before work activities:

Alright, before the game, it was a bit hectic, but that's because I always wake up late and give myself the littlest amount of time to get ready! I started off the day by waking up around 10:30 am. I took a shower and then rushed to my hair appt because, for the first game day, I like to do something like that, whether it be hair or nails ( Wow sorry cringe!). But that's just what I do. So I went to the dry bar, got my hair done, rushed home, and threw on my white outfit. I was confused about why it was white out, but Baylor was wearing white, but it's okay. Then I took an Uber to my recruiting best friend Brooke Searfoss' house (her house is 3 blocks up, but I was so lazy and didn't want to walk). Then, when I arrived, she got in the Uber, and we headed to the championship center! We had to get there at 3pm to set up and ensure everything was checked in the IPF (Indoor practice facility).

HAPPY TO BE HERE

Pre-game activities :

Before the game, all the interns met and set up to go through what we were doing today. I met some new people who joined the team this year, and I can already tell they are like family! Before football games, each intern is given a staffing sheet with a play-by-play of everyone's duties for the night and where they need to be at any given moment. After we know what we are supposed to do, we wait for people to start rolling in for the game! When people arrive, we come into play. We make sure all the recruiting standards are being met and meet kids who may be considering playing at Colorado. They get to eat, and the food is ALWAYS catered from somewhere good. Then, after they eat, play games, and socialize, we take players to watch a bit of warm-up, which is always a blast. Then we take players to their seats so they can watch our gorgeous buffalo Ralphie run and the game!

SIDE LINES

During the game:

It was an incredible night game, and the rain didn't stop us. During the game, while families watch, I just make sure everyone is all good, and if any hospitality is needed, then I am their girl. People are very into the game most of the time, so watch it! In the 4th quarter, I was trying very hard to keep myself composed because there were moments of stress and happiness, and all these emotions were trying to come out, but I tried my best to keep it professional.  All the interns were celebrating moments, which gave me a great sense of why I love what I do. Then we won the game in Overtime, and I was running for my life on the field, and Argus was beyond stressed trying to keep people in. It felt like the CSU game from last year all over again, and it was epic! As a major sports fan, it is fantastic to be a part of a career path that allows me to be a part of moments like these, where I can play a small part in creating lifelong memories for deserving fans. People travel to see our team and consider being a part of it, and nights like these give the whole "University of Colorado experience." Grateful, thankful, and blessed to be a part of it!
